Harassment and Bullying in the Workplace Post the #Metoo Era: Employee and Employer Rights and Responsibilities - Tuesday, October 20th, 2020
Date: Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 from 9am-12pm (½ day)
This intensive workshop uses case law examples, current legislation and discussion of respect and civility in the workplace to educate participants on harassment and bullying in the workplace. We will discuss how employees can navigate uncomfortable situations, what constitutes harassment according the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and discuss what is and is not appropriate behaviour in today’s workplace landscape.
*This workshop is recommended for all staff on an annual basis.
Prerequisite(s): None.
Topics include:
- understanding that constitutes harassment and what constitutes bullying in the workplace
- understanding the difference between harassment and incivility
- what our Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act say regarding harassment and sexual harassment in the workplace
- employee rights and employer responsibilities per current Ontario legislation
- how to react to someone who is offensive to you in the workplace
- how to safeguard ourselves and our workplaces from incidents of harassment and incivility and developing a “speak up” culture
- a healthy discussion about how the #metoo movement has impacted the workplace
